ADOPTIONS ARE LIMITED TO RESIDENTS OF AUSTIN AND SURROUNDING AREAS.
WE DO NOT ALLOW OUT-OF-STATE ADOPTIONS.

PLEASE NOTE:  Adoption applications may take several days to process; we will respond to your request as soon as possible. Puppies may be placed in foster-to-adopt homes as early as 8 weeks of age, however their adoption will not be finalized until they are spayed or neutered which occurs after 12 weeks of age. Unsterilized puppies cannot be placed into homes outside of the general Austin area.

Please consider this before adopting a puppy. Adopting a young puppy is very much like adding a baby to the family. It is a lifestyle change. They need lots of love, patience, training, time, a good diet and extra medical care. They will destroy your favorite things, try your patience and many days have you asking yourself, "What was I thinking"?

A pet is a lifetime commitment and adopting should never be done on impulse. Do your research and a lot of soul searching. Yes, there will be joy, love and highs. But there will also be periods of lows & frustration.

Every adult animal in a shelter was once a puppy or kitten that someone thought they couldn't live without. Now they are abandoned and left to die while more puppies are being adopted. If you are not prepared for living with and committing 10-15 years to your new family addition, do not adopt. Pets are not disposable.

WILLIS Male 5 mos 27 lbs.

WONDERFUL WILLIS !!! What a doll, what a face, what a personality!! What can we say but CUTE!!! This pup may be a Schnauzer mix or some other kind of Terrier mix. His paws are very large and we think he may be around 50 lbs. as an adult. He reminds his foster Mom of a black Winn Dixie (Picardy dog)!

"Will" is very friendly and interested in people and other dogs. He does use his mouth a bit too much in a puppy manner which needs work. We do not suggest children under 8 years. He will require obedience and house training.

BLUEBERRY SUNDAY!! It was a beautiful blue Sunday when Blueberry was found as a stray. This gangly legged girl is a super sweet puppy who may be either an Aussie or Catahoula mix. We expect she will be around 45-50 lbs. as an adult, she needs to fatten up and fill out as she is very thin at this time. "Blue" likes other dogs and has shown herself to be submissive to them so far.

Blueberry is current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and will be spayed before she is adopted. Her adoption is $200. A fenced yard is strongly preferred.

FRITZ Male 5 mos 7 lbs.

FRIZZY FRITZ!! Little Fritz is a darling little TerrierPoo boy. His Mom is a miniature Poodle (picture #5) and his Dad a Terrier/Bichon mix (picture #6). He was born on 1/27/08. He will need house/crate training and basic obedience.

My foster Mom says that I am "cuddly" (whatever that is) and I love to be held. The perfect lap pup. I enjoy a short walk around the block if it isn't too hot. I prefer to walk with my foster doggies in the evening when it gets cooler. I do have some minor allergies that have been checked by a vet, but he said it was nothing to worry about. I love to sleep in bed with my person (if you want me to). I've been working on my crate training, but don't really like to be in the crate for long periods of time. Housetraining is going very well. My foster Mom gets very excited when I go potty outside. She gives me a yummy treat and tells me I'm almost completely potty trained. I can go the whole night without an accident. She says, that is a great accomplishment for such a young pup and that my new "forever" home will be very happy about that.

I do need to tell you something though...I tend to give a little growl when touched roughly, so children would not be a good environment for me at this time. I've not bitten anyone, but I tend to be insecure at times. My foster Mom is working on building my confidence.

Here is a list of qualities that my foster Mom is looking for in the special home for me: *A stay at home person or someone that works from home
*Someone that can give me lots of attention
*Someone to help build my confidence - basic obedience
*Children over the age of 12 (if any)
*Daily (hourly :) hugs & kisses
*A fenced yard so that we can play together

Please check out his blog for more information: blog!

Fritz is current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm negative and will be microchipped and neutered before his adoption is finalized. His adoption is $200.

SWEET LAB PUP!!! Hi, my name is Cranberry Girl, I am cringing at that name but that's what popped out of the hat when my name choice came up and I am willing to live with it. I suppose it will grow on me. I may be a small, pure Chocolate Lab or a mix, Mom doesn't care, she just thinks I am sweet. She does wish I would stay out of my water bowls but heh, I've got Lab blood in my veins!!!

I like other dogs and crave attention, I haven't had much time spent with me and need basic training and I think my house training needs work, too.

Cranberry Girl is current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm negative, spayed and microchipped. Her adoption is $200. She needs an active adopter who doesn't care how large she becomes, doggie classes and a fenced yard in which to play.

BAILEY Male 4 mos 16 lbs.

BAILEY... and his siblings were abandoned at a kill shelter on April 1st. We are guessing they were about 5-6 weeks old at that time. We are unsure of the breed-mixes of this litter—quite possibly Aussie and/or Heeler or other herding dogs make up part of their mix. Our best guess at this point is that these babies will be medium size dogs when full grown.

Bailey is a very cute and chatty boy. He likes to play and loves attention. He likes people of all ages and plays well with other dogs and also cats. Bailey is beginning to work on crate training and housebreaking in foster care.

In addition to the normal puppy needs (including housebreaking, crate training, and home manners education), we are recommending that Bailey's adopter takes him to basic obedience training as well because it is such a wonderful bonding experience for the puppy and his adopter. Bailey's adopter should keep in mind that very young puppies need to be with humans much of the time for training and socialization. A rule of thumb is that puppies can be expected to be left crated for one hour per month of age for the first nine months, so adopting a 2 or 3 month old puppy takes some planning and temporary lifestyle changes for most people. Because of the rambunctious nature of puppies and the fragile size of this litter in particular, no children under 5 please.

Bailey is current on age appropriate vaccinations, wormed, heartworm negative, neutered, microchipped and ready for his very own new forever home! His adoption is $200.

CROCKETT....... What a wonderful little guy this pup is! He is playful, sweet, out-going and really LOVES the water. Did I mention he loves the water? He'll play with the hose, sprinklers, kiddie pool and water bowls. For a lab, he is low-key but will still require lots time for training, exercise and socialization.

In addition to the normal puppy needs (including housebreaking, and home manners education), we are recommending that Crockett's adopter takes him to basic obedience training as well because it is such a wonderful bonding experience for the puppy and his adopter. CARLY Female 15 wks 23 lbs.

ADOPTION PENDING FOR CARLY........ This girl is a beauty. She is playful, sweet and enjoys the water. She is quiet and sometimes a little reserved, even though she's the largest pup in the litter. She will chase a toy and wrestle with her siblings. She also loves the big dogs in her foster home. Labs are wonderful dogs, but it is important to remember that they are a sporting breed and require lots of exercise and attention.

In addition to the normal puppy needs (including housebreaking and home manners education), we are recommending that Carly's adopter takes her to basic obedience training as well because it is such a wonderful bonding experience for the puppy and her adopter. TIRAMISU Female 8 wks 8 lbs.

ADOPTION PENDING / COURTESY POSTING FOR AUSSIE RESCUE / TIRAMISU.....DOB 4/16/08 Tiramisu is a gorgeous red merle Australian Shepherd puppy who was turned over to Rescue along with her littermates so that we can help them each find wonderful forever homes. Although they are purebred Aussies, these pups are going to be smaller than average. We expect Tira to be about 30-35 pounds when full-grown.

Tira is the smallest of the puppies and she is also a bit shyer than her siblings. She is playful and enjoys a good romp in the yard with the other dogs especially. Like her littermates, she is very intelligent, learning all kinds of things in foster care with very little repetition. Tira's adopter needs to understand that as an Australian Shepherd she will require both lots of physical exercise and also plenty of mental stimulation. And in addition to the normal puppy needs (including housebreaking, crate training, and home manners education), basic obedience training in her new home will be an absolute must.

Tira's adopter should keep in mind that very young puppies need to be with humans much of the time for training and socialization. A rule of thumb is that puppies can be expected to be left crated for one hour per month of age for the first six months, so adopting a 2 or 3 month old puppy takes some planning and temporary lifestyle changes for most people. Because of the rambunctious nature of puppies in general and the potential herding instinct of Aussies in particular, no children under 5 please.

Tira is living with other dogs, cats, and a child in foster care and gets along with everyone. She is practicing her crate training and working hard on housebreaking. Read more about her foster home adventures (and see more photos!) on her family's blog!

Tira is wormed and current on age-appropriate vaccinations. She will receive her rabies vaccination and be neutered and microchipped before her adoption is finalized. She will be available to go to a Foster-to-Adopt home beginning June 28th. Her adoption fee is $250.

CRUMBS Male 8 wks 6 lbs.

ADOPTION PENDING / CRUMBS..... is a precious sheltie-mix puppy who was born in Rescue to mama Callie (see photo #5) on 04-21-08. We have had the good fortune to know two generations of his older siblings in addition to his sweet mother and we know that these puppies have wonderful temperaments to go with their good looks and perfect size (we expect him to be about 30-35 pounds when full-grown).

Crumbs was the runt of his litter. The fact that he was so much smaller than the others when he was born is how he came to have the name "Crumbs" in the first place! However he quickly began to catch up to his siblings and he never acted like a little guy! He is darling and playful and outgoing. He adores playing with his littermates and with his human foster "brother". In addition to the normal puppy needs (including housebreaking, crate training, and home manners education), we are recommending that Crumbs' adopter takes him to basic obedience training as well because it is such a wonderful bonding experience for a puppy and his adopter. Shelties are both an intelligent and an active/herding breed of dog, and Crumbs's adopter should plan on meeting his needs for both regular exercise and mental stimulation. Doing so helps set him up for success!

Crumbs's adopter should keep in mind that very young puppies need to be with humans much of the time for training and socialization. A rule of thumb is that puppies can be expected to be left crated for one hour per month of age for the first nine months, so adopting a 2 or 3 month old puppy takes some planning and temporary lifestyle changes for most people. RUSTY Male 4-5 mos 18 lbs.

ADOPTION PENDING FOR RUSTY..... is a very small Australian shepherd. He and his littermate (already adopted) came from a kill animal shelter. His shy demeanor probably caused people to pass him over, but they were missing out. He must have had a rough start to life, or the shelter really petrified him, as he is shy and a bit fearful, but he has great potential and with the right family he will blossom. He will make someone a great companion. Once he warms up to someone, he really becomes their shadow. Rusty follows his foster mother where ever she goes in the house. He is housebroken, and lets his foster know he wants out by ringing the doggie door bells or barking.

Rusty really follows his fosters dog brothers lead, and would be very comfortable, maybe even preferring, a home with other dogs. We don’t have experience with cats, and he is good with children.

To ready more about Rusty's experience in his foster home, check out his blog!

Rusty is neutered, microchipped and current on all vaccinations.

He loves people and just decided he should be with his foster family rather than in a puppy pen! He likes to play and have fun. And he has inherited the notorious "chatty" sheltie personality. In addition to the normal puppy needs (including housebreaking, crate training, and home manners education), we are recommending that Coal's adopter takes him to basic obedience training as well because it is such a wonderful bonding experience for a puppy and his adopter. Shelties are both an intelligent and an active/herding breed of dog, and Coal's adopter should plan on meeting his needs for both regular exercise and mental stimulation. Doing so helps set him up for success!

Coal's adopter should keep in mind that very young puppies need to be with humans much of the time for training and socialization. A rule of thumb is that puppies can be expected to be left crated for one hour per month of age for the first nine months, so adopting a 2 or 3 month old puppy takes some planning and temporary lifestyle changes for most people. Because of the rambunctious nature of puppies in general and the potential herding instinct of shelties in particular, no children under 5 please.

Coal is living with other dogs, cats, and a child in foster care and gets along with everyone. Read more about his foster home adventures (and see more photos!) on his family's blog!

Coal is wormed and current on age-appropriate vaccinations. He will receive his rabies vaccination and be neutered and microchipped before his adoption is finalized. His adoption fee is $200.

ADOPTION PENDING / CABOOSE..... is a precious sheltie-mix puppy who was born in Rescue to mama Callie (see photo #5) on 04-21-08. We have had the good fortune to know two generations of his older siblings in addition to his sweet mother and we know that these puppies have wonderful temperaments to go with their good looks and perfect size (we expect him to be about 35 pounds when full-grown).

Caboose is the biggest puppy in his litter. So big when he was born that he came two hours after his siblings, which is why we call him "Caboose". He is an easy-going fellow with a sweet, happy-go-lucky personality. In addition to the normal puppy needs (including housebreaking, crate training, and home manners education), we are recommending that Caboose' adopter takes him to basic obedience training as well because it is such a wonderful bonding experience for a puppy and his adopter. PANDA Female 8 wks 12 lbs.

ADOPTION PENDING / COURTESY POSTING FOR AUSSIE RESCUE / PANDA.....DOB 4/16/08 Panda is a lovely black-bi Australian Shepherd puppy who was turned over to Rescue along with his littermates so that we can help them each find wonderful Forever Homes. Although they are purebred Aussies, these pups are going to be smaller than average. We expect Panda to be about 40-45 pounds when full-grown.

Panda loves people. He is the most outgoing of his littermates and truly enjoys spending time as much time as possible with his foster family. He has a wonderful temperament and is a true joy to be around. Panda's adopter needs to understand that as an Australian Shepherd he will require both lots of physical exercise and also plenty of mental stimulation. And in addition to the normal puppy needs (including housebreaking, crate training, and home manners education), basic obedience training in his new home will be an absolute must.

Panda's adopter should keep in mind that very young puppies need to be with humans much of the time for training and socialization.

Panda is living with other dogs, cats, and a child in foster care and gets along with everyone. He is practicing his crate training and working hard on housebreaking. Read more about his foster home adventures (and see more photos!) on his family's blog!

Panda is wormed and current on age-appropriate vaccinations. He will receive his rabies vaccination and be neutered and microchipped before his adoption is finalized. He will be available to go to a Foster-to-Adopt home beginning June 28th. His adoption fee is $250.

BELLE Female 8 wks 10 lbs.

ADOPTION PENDING / COURTESY POSTING FOR AUSSIE RESCUE / BELLE.....DOB 4/16/08 Blue Belle is a beautiful blue merle Australian Shepherd puppy who was turned over to Rescue along with her littermates so that we can help them each find wonderful forever homes. Although they are purebred Aussies, these pups are going to be smaller than average. We expect Belle to be about 30-40 pounds when full-grown. We also believe that Belle may be partially deaf.

Belle is her foster mom's favorite. She loves people and likes to follow her foster family around, but she is also quite bold and very curious. She is a very smart cookie and also very playful—even a bit mischievous at times! Like her littermates, she is very intelligent, learning all kinds of things in foster care with very little repetition. Belle's adopter needs to understand that as an Australian Shepherd she will require both lots of physical exercise and also plenty of mental stimulation. And in addition to the normal puppy needs (including housebreaking, crate training, and home manners education), basic obedience training in her new home will be an absolute must.

Belle's adopter should keep in mind that very young puppies need to be with humans much of the time for training and socialization. A rule of thumb is that puppies can be expected to be left crated for one hour per month of age for the first six months, so adopting a 2 or 3 month old puppy takes some planning and temporary lifestyle changes for most people. Because of the rambunctious nature of puppies in general and the potential herding instincts of Aussies in particular, no children under 5 please. Due to her potential hearing issues we will require a fenced yard for Belle's new home.

Belle is living with other dogs, cats, and a child in foster care and gets along with everyone. She is practicing her crate training and working hard on housebreaking. Read more about her foster home adventures (and see more photos!) on her family's blog!

Belle is wormed and current on age-appropriate vaccinations. She will receive her rabies vaccination and be neutered and microchipped before her adoption is finalized. She will be available to go to a Foster-to-Adopt home that has researched deaf dog training or who has experience with a hearing impaired dog beginning June 28th. Her adoption fee is $250.

Sharing your life with a hearing impaired dog is very rewarding. We have resources (along with our personal experiences!) to share with any potential adopters about life with a deaf dog, including training tips.

BREE Female 8 wks 4.5 lbs.

ADOPTION PENDING FOR BREE... and her siblings were abandoned at a kill shelter on April 1st. We are guessing they were about 5-6 weeks old at that time. We are unsure of the breed-mixes of this litter—quite possibly Aussie and/or Heeler or other herding dogs make up part of their mix. Our best guess at this point is that these babies will be medium size dogs when full grown.

Bree is the smallest puppy in the litter. She is such a pretty girl with her gorgeous red-tri coloring and prick ears. She likes people of all ages and plays well with other dogs and also cats. Bree is beginning to work on crate training and housebreaking in foster care.

In addition to the normal puppy needs (including housebreaking, crate training, and home manners education), we are recommending that Bree's adopter takes her to basic obedience training as well because it is such a wonderful bonding experience for the puppy and her adopter. Bree's adopter should keep in mind that very young puppies need to be with humans much of the time for training and socialization.

Bree is wormed and current on age-appropriate vaccinations. She will receive her rabies vaccination and be spayed and microchipped before her adoption is finalized. Her adoption fee is $200.
