Sponsors needed. Thanks to CARE (Companion Animal Rescue Effort), Ellen & Ronald Morrill, Maria Meneses, Michele Leatherwood, Mary Balk, Kyra Lloyd, Ellen Ryan, Lindsay McKenna, Barbara Vinson, Carolyn Counterman, Betty Kollen, Travis & Rachel Snell for their support!

UPDATE 6/18/08: Why are some little lives so much harder than others. Basket aka "Grammie" came into rescue in terrible shape, a mouth full of rotten teeth, a fistula that led from her mouth into her sinus, thin, bad skin and through all this she struggled and survived. Now she has been diagnosed with bladder stones and needs another surgery. This is so unfair but we will all get old someday and need help, so we have decided to continue to help Basket live out her last years in comfort and without pain.

Basket is scheduled for surgery this week and we need to raise $475.00 to open her bladder, remove the stones, flush it out and put her on the road to comfort. If you can help this sweet old lady, please click on her Paypal PAW!

UPDATE 5/25/08: POOR LITTLE BASKET! Basket has had two dental surgeries. The first was to clean and remove teeth and the second to close a fissure. She is doing well now and eating hard food although she really enjoys canned food.

Basket came into rescue from a country kill shelter. We believe she is a long haired Chihuahua mix. This darling little dog appears to have had a very hard life. Her coat is thin and dry, she is underweight, has bad teeth, and hasn't been able to get enough proper nutrition.

She requires expensive dental work and we are asking for donations for her dental cleaning and the removal of most of her teeth. This girl has been suffering in pain and unable to get help for long enough. If you can help us restore Basket's ability to eat and enjoy life, please click on her PAYPAL PAW!!

Basket is current on vaccinations, heartworm negative and will be spayed and have her dental care before she is adopted. Her adoption is $200. No children under 8 years please.

I like to have my own way and it would be best if I went to live somewhere with older children and a nice fenced yard to run and play!

Whistle is current on his vaccinations, heartworm negative, neutered and microchipped. His adoption is $200.

PUGGLE GIRL !! Cheddar is a mix of a Pug and a Beagle, one of the newer "designer" dogs now ending up in rescue. She is a frisky, friendly girl who gets along well with other dogs and people. Cheddar most definitely will benefit by having some basic obedience. She has the independent nature of the Beagle and loves to have her nose to the ground.

Cheddar is current on her vaccinations, heartworm negative, spayed and microchipped. Her adoption is $250. She is presently being treated for a non-contagious form of mange called Demodex. She should be just fine after a few more dips.

Sponsors needed for heartworm treatment. Thanks to Rebecca Lopez, Chris Ware, Mia & JC Poole, Dawn Skonieczny and Terry Schucany for their support!

I WANNA BE YOUR BEST FRIEND.... My name is Rascal and I am a handsome Australian Shepherd with a full tail. I LOVE people and really prefer them to my fellow doggies! I am looking for a home with someone who is home a lot to spend time with me and wants to do fun things like going to the lake or camping. Oh I don't know really just as long as we go together! A fenced yard would be really nice as I love to run and play!

My last people didn't take good care of me and now I am heartworm positive which means I have yucky worms like spaghetti inside of my heart. I need a special and expensive treatment to make them go away or I have many years to be with my new family! If you can help me, please click on my PAYPAL PAW!

Rascal is current on his vaccinations, neutered, microchipped and will be treated for his heartworms before he is adopted. Adoption fee is $200.

We are treating Goose for kennel cough and she has tested for positive for heartworms.

RALLY O Male 3 yr 45 lbs.

RAH RAH RALLY O !!! Hello, my name is Rally O! I am truly a gorgeous Australian Shepherd but to be honest I am not for the casual dog family :-(

My foster Mom says that I have "issues" from my past abusive home and I can sometimes change my loving, kissy mood for a "snarly" one in the flash of my beautiful eyes. I have not bitten, but when this happens, I could possibly get carried away if pushed. My Mom knows how to handle this and she told me that an experienced, kind, loving and supportive Mom or Dad would be able to do so, too.

My Mom will not rehome me with a family with children now or planned for the future. My new family must have time for me with continued training, I had some at the Triple Crown Dog Academy, doggie sports (I love to play ball/fetch) and a structured lifestyle. I am really a wonderful guy and so intelligent and did I mention humble?? It's just that I have "flashbacks" and get scared sometimes.

Rally O is current on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, neutered and microchipped. His adoption is $200.. No out of area or out of state adoptions. No children please and a fenced yard is highly preferred.

MAX Male 4 yrs 45 lbs.

MAX-A-MILLION! Hi, my name is Max! My foster Mom thinks I am one in a million. Wow is that cool or what! She wanted to adopt me but realized she couldn't, so now I am looking for my very own forever home. When I was rescued by my Mom, I was a skinny, heartworm-positive stray dog living wherever I could.

Since then, I have gained weight, gotten treated for my heartworms and am in great health. You just gotta love a Good Samaritan! In case you didn't notice, I am a Border Collie. Instead of being like many of my more intense breed members, I can be calmer and well behaved in a general family situation. Don't get me wrong, I still love exercise. I just haven't seen much of it since I was on "bed rest" for my treatment.

I am current on my vaccinations, heartworm treated, neutered and will be microchipped when I am adopted. Also, I am crate and house trained and get along with the doggies I have met so far. I prefer to be an inside dog, lying on the cool tile while others sweat outside. So if your house is tiled, you win big points with me! His adoption is $200.

Honey is current on vaccination, heartworm negative, spayed and microchipped. Her adoption is $200. A home with a fenced yard and children over 5 years (due to her activity level) are required.

MILLIE Female 2 yrs 30 lbs.

UPDATE 6/24/08 Millie, the marvelous Border Collie, is now available for adoption! She has learned lots of good things at Triple Crown Training Academy but will need continued training, lots of brain work and exercise! Prior Border Collie experience required.

MIGHTY MILLIE.... My name is Millie and I am a survivor! My friend, Max and I were found by a Good Samaritan, skinny and starving in the back of an abandoned truck. Being the feistier Border Collie of the two of us, I kept us safe but wasn't able to help much with the food. Max gave me more than my share when we did get food so I am not really underweight but had the yucky worms, too. Thankfully I do not have the ones who live in your heart!!!

I enjoy running, playing and being the Boss of my play groups. I really like boy dogs better than girls and could even be an only dog as long as I get lots of exercise and mental stimulation. I'm a typical high energy Border Collie and may even enjoy doggie sports. An active home with someone who understands my breed, a fenced yard and children over 5 years are really important to me.

Millie is current on vaccinations, wormed, heartworm negative, spayed and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $200.

HELLOOOOOOOOOO.......... My name is Echo, it used to be Eggo, but my foster Mom felt it wasn't dignified enough for wonderful little me! I am a slender black and white Border Collie girl. I was removed from an abusive home where I was tied on a tie out 24/7 with only a baby pool with filthy water. It was actually driving me insane. I needed a job, people, places and lots of new things. At my new digs, I get to run and run and swim in what's called a tank! I am having a blast!

My previous jailers didn't keep me up on Vet care or spay me or give me pills to keep heartworms from invading my heart, so I am now heartworm positive. Can you help Mom get me all better by donating a little something for my heartworm treatment? If so, please click on my Paypal PAW!

HUGO Male 2-3 yrs mos 10 lbs.

HUGO.......... Hugo was rescued by another group back in February and he has been waiting patiently ever since for *his* family to come for him. He has cast his little net pretty wide, and he will know them when they come because they will be ready to give this little guy the love, kindness, and patience that has likely been lacking in his life up until now. He has enlisted the help of our group to help him find them, and we are more than happy to help.

Hugo has had a lot of fans and guardian angels recently, but he has really been through the wringer. He suffered from a knee injury that required surgery (now fully healed!), and some skin conditions that have been treated. Most recently, he was rushed to the emergency vet with a foot injury that was likely a scorpion sting… ouch!! Luckily, he was able to overcome all of these things.

In his new foster home Hugo lives with other dogs, cats, and a child. He is practicing his home manners and basic obedience training. He is neutered, microchipped, wormed, and vaccinated. You can follow his progress (and see many more photos!) on his blog. His adoption fee is $200.

I do have allergies and am on a fish and sweet potato diet with nothing else mixed in and so far that seems to have really helped my coat. It was beautiful until Spring and now I am showing allergies again, I hate this as I itch and people do not want to adopt me, I feel so sad.

UPDATE 3/25/08: Poor, poor Mouse! After a detailed exam he needed a major dental cleaning, 9 teeth removed, antibiotics for gingivitis and pus and strong pain killers! Any help to get this guy pain and infection free is much appreciated! See picture #3 below to see just one of his awful teeth.

MIGHTY LITTLE MOUSE! My name is Mouse and quite frankly, I am a mess!!! My previous "owner" didn't take care of me, my teeth are filthy and painful which makes it hard to eat and give kisses. I try to smooch but people just turn away when they smell my bad breath, I am so embarrassed!! My coat is thin because of poor nutrition and the infection in my mouth, and to top it all off I am heartworm positive. I do not know what my breed is, I look so bad now, even my rescuer doesn't know, maybe a Yorkie/Chihuahua/Terrier?

Many people passed me by, too much money, too many issues but my foster Mommy said I deserved better than to cross the Rainbow Bridge now after going through so much neglect. I wonder where that bridge would have taken me??

My "Mom" says she needs help with what will be a really huge RAT sized Vet bill, can you help?? If so, please click on my PAYPAL PAW or money can be donated directly to the Compassion Animal Hospital at 512-515-6566.

Mouse is current on his vaccinations and microchipped. His dental work and neuter will be done soon followed in a week or so by his heartworm treatment. His adoption is $200. No children under 8 years of age.

She is very energetic and loves to run and run and play with other dogs. Willow is also a loungy dog, always choosing the softest blanket or pillow to lay on. This sweetie is so smart, she picks up commands within ten minutes and is already house-trained. She has been good with cats.

Willow is spayed, microchipped, wormed, treated for heartworms, and current all vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $200. See more photos and learn about her time in foster care on her blog!

GRETA Female 5 yrs 38 lbs.

Sponsors for Greta......Thanks to Melanie Gover and Amelia Prouty for their support.

GRETA NEEDS YOUR HELP.... UPDATE 2/17/08: Greta has beed successfully treated for her heartworms and is ready for her very own home. She will require obedience training and lots of exercise.

GRETA... needs to receive heartworm treatment but funds are very low for this right now. She will also need to board for two weeks after the treatment because she is too active a girl to "rest" at home. We need to raise $300.00 to give Greta the care she needs to be fully adoptable. Please click on the PAYPAL PAW if you can contribute to her care!

Greta is a possible Shepherd/Aussie mix who was found on the side of a road and her owners were never located. She is a very active dog who would make a great jogging partner or possibly an agility dog. Obedience training and lots of exercise are a must for this girl along with a fenced yard! She is very good with children but maybe too energetic for children under 8 years.

Greta is current on vaccinations, spayed and microchipped. She is however a light heartworm positive but she will be treated for this before she is adopted. Adoption fee is $150.

MICKEY Male 1 yr 13 lbs.

DAPPLED DARLING! Mickey is a 1/2 Daschund, 1/2 some type Terrier mix guy, who stands only 12" at the top of his head. Mickey has a bit of the "little dog" syndrome and can be dominate with some dogs. Those Terriers! :-)

Mickey does like adults and children. He is easily excited when a new person comes into the house but once you are in awhile, he will calm down. He has never been aggressive to children or dogs, but he does not like cats.

He prefers to be inside, but is comfortable outside as well. He is housetrained. Mickey loves to play fetch, to walk - run, but has never been trained on a leash (or any other training for that matter), so doesn't know how to really go on a true walk. He is pretty good in the house, but will tear up tissue if he can get to the trash, plus eats any toys (Barbies, legos, etc.) or shoes if left out. Some of this may be boredom, some may be still left from puppyhood.

We are looking for a committed person or family who can promise Mickey training, love and lots of attention. A fenced yard is preferred.

Mickey is current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, neutered and microchipped. Adoption fee is $150.

BEVO Male 1 yr 30 lbs.

GO LONGHORNS GO! My name is Bevo, not the Mascot, but a handsome guy anyway! My foster Mom says I may be a Springer mix but gee, neither of us really knows! I am a pretty boy who likes to play with dogs and people. Sometimes I am just too excited and jump on my doggie friends but usually they forgive me, when they don't it sometimes gets a bit weird.

I want to go live with someone who likes orange and white dogs alot (just kidding) although that wouldn't hurt! I also want to go to obedience class, I hear it's really fun and cool! A great way to improve my rusty manners (that's orange too isn't it?) and help me be a real charmer with the ladies

Bevo is current on his vaccinations, heartworm negative, neutered and microchipped. Adoption fee is $150. We do not suggest a home with cats or little dogs and one with children over 8 years of age. A fenced yard is really important so Bevo can get lots of play time.

SNOWMAN Male 2 yrs 10 lbs.

TWO EYES OF COAL AND A BUTTON NOSE.... Little Snowman was recently rescued from a high kill facility. We believe that he may have some Terrier or Pomeranian in his make up. He has a precocious Terrier type personality and is quite outspoken when excited. He gets along with all dogs and actually likes to act like he is the boss of them all at times. This guy likes laps for a short period of time but is then off looking for action.

Snowman would do fine with children over 5 years of age, a fenced yard would be best as he just loves to run and play. He is pretty much crate trained but we do not know about house training. We also do not know if he has spent some of his life chasing cats. :-)

Whomever adopts this darling boy should be one who lives the daring, "yappy" ways of a Terrier.

Snowman is current on his vaccinations, heartworm negative, neutered and microchipped. His adoption fee is $200.

TYE Male 12 years 50 lbs.

Sponsors needed for dental cleaning.
Thanks to Taurus Training and Michael Brooker, Ellen & Ronald Morrill, Kelley Crews-Meyer, Kellie Langley, Colin Slagle, Melanie Gover, Bryan & Patricia McGill, Lana Carpenter, Cory Baker, Mary Holt, Devre Bates, Billie Edwards, Elloa Mathews and Cynthia Torres for their generous support of Tye!

UPDATE (Sept. 2007): Tye is getting along fairly well, although he sometimes has problems getting up and down……especially after he plays too hard herding tires.:-) Our Vet feels that his diagnosis of Cancer was incorrect as Tye's leg is no longer large and painful after medications and time. Sometimes he will start limping in the middle of a run but he seems to be enjoying life, his food and his stuffed snake toy.

UPDATE (Nov 2006): Our wonderful Tye has been diagnosed with Osteosarcoma of his right front leg. This is a fairly aggressive Cancer and he most likely has 8 months to live. We love this guy and want to give him Hospice care until he is unable to continue in his normal happy state. He is on several medications which are quite costly and any help with the purchase of his medications would be greatly appreciated. We are not expecting Tye to be adopted now but will continue to give him love in his Foster home as if he were our own, until sadly he crosses over the Rainbow Bridge to a pain free and hopefully not, "tire free" life.

MICHELIN MAN! Tye is a pretty, long coated Border Collie mix who is house trained and will wait patiently for his foster to let him outside. He loves to catch frisbees and even being 11 years old, he isn't stopped from this sport he enjoys! He likes to swim, chew treats, bones and rawhides. He sits, shakes and knows down.

This "old man" is young at heart and totally fixated on any kind of tire or moving object! He probably would have made a great herding dog.

Tye is current on his vaccinations, heartworm negative, neutered and microchipped.

JUNEAU Female 6 months 45 lbs.

COURTESY POSTING FOR AUSSIE RESCUE....JUNEAU ... Poor Juneau has been dealt one blow after another thanks to heartless guardians. First, she was born the result of an unethical double merle breeding that left her deaf. Then, she was either abandoned or dumped on a country highway where she couldn't even hear the oncoming traffic.

Happily, all of that is behind this joyful girl now. In foster care she is learning obedience commands via hand signals and will go on to be a wonderful pet and devoted companion like so many deaf dogs before her. Even though she is nearly full-grown, she is a still a puppy, and just like any other puppy she is playful, curious, and full of energy. Juneau is crate trained and working on housebreaking. Just like any other Aussie, she will need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation and will thrive on obedience and other training. Because of her deafness, we will require a fenced yard for Juneau. Because of the rambunctious nature of puppies in general and the herding instincts of Aussies in particular, no children under 5 please.

Juneau gets along well with every single other dog she has ever met, plus cats and kids. She is very gentle but she is going to be a big dog, probably at least 55 pounds when fully grown. Juneau is wormed, spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. She has had a thorough eye exam at a vet ophthalmologist due to evaluate her for hereditary eye problems due to her double merle status. Her adoption fee is $200.

Sharing your life with a deaf dog is very rewarding. We have resources (along with our personal experiences!) to share with any potential adopters about life with a deaf dog, including training tips.

See more photos and videos of Juneau, find links to Aussie and deaf dog info, and learn about her time in foster care on her blog!

HOLLIE Female 4 yrs 45 lbs.

COURTESY LISTING / HOLLIE.... Hollie is a black & white Border Collie mix. She is a loving, adorable girl. She likes other dogs and is fine with dog-savvy cats. She is fairly active.

Both Hollie and Arliss are looking for a home because their mom & dad got a divorce. It's so sad for these good friends. We would love for someone to fall in love with them and adopt them together, but they can be adopted separately as well. They are not being fostered together, because of space issues and because they originally had 2 different foster moms.

Hollie is current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, spayed and microchipped. She has no health issues. Adopton fee is $200.

BARTLEY Male 3 yrs 11 lbs.

REFERRAL FOR JACK'S FUR ANGELS ....BARTLEY.. Bartley's breed mix is somewhat of mystery. Our best guess is Dachshund, Papillon, Schipperke mix. He was born (approximately) June 5, 2005, making him nearly 3 years old. He weighs 1l lbs full grown. Bartley's medium length coat is solid black. He has short legs, a long body, big standing ears, and a long tail.

Bartley snuck his way into Jack's Angels' adoption program. A volunteer picking up two Boston Terriers from the Christ-Yoder Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, learned that Bartley was picked up as a stray along with them and was slated for euthanasia. Knowing this friendly, small, cute dog was totally adoptable, she brought him back to Austin, TX too.

Bartley gets along well with other dogs and cats. He has a very sweet disposition. He's a bit shy in new situations but that's resolving with socialization. We haven't had the opportunity to see how he is with children but will soon. Bartley is very well mannered and rarely barks but is not yet fully housebroken. He is, however, very well crate trained.

Bartley has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He tested negative for heartworms and is given monthly preventive. His adoption fee is $150.

PIPPIN Male 7 yrs 3.5 lbs.

REFERRAL FOR AUSSIE RESCUE....PIPPIN... a/k/a "Pip" is a chihuahua/rat terrier mix. He's approximately 7 years old and weighs 3.5 pounds. Pip was dumped on a road near the Bastrop County shelter. Pip enjoys playing with toys including balls and stuffed animals. Pip loves being held and he cuddles next to you or in your lap. Pip is partially crate-trained, but does not like to spend extended periods of time in the crate. Pip was recently neutered, had his teeth cleaned and is up to date on his shots.

Pip needs a home where the person is not gone all day and where there are not any big dogs. Pip is a typical chihuahua and does not like to share his person. Cats are fine. Older children who know how to be gentle around a small dog are fine too.
